"Where Does My Heart Beat Now" is a hit song from Céline Dion's English debut album called Unison. It was released as the first single in the United States (November 19, 1990) and other parts of the world (1991). In Canada, it was issued as the third single on March 4, 1991.[1]
"Where Does My Heart Beat Now" is a song written by Robert White Johnson and Taylor Rhodes in 1988 and recorded by Céline Dion one year later. It was produced by Christopher Neil in London West Side Studios.
The world premiere of this song was at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1989, where Céline Dion performed it live, along with her 1988 winning song "Ne partez pas sans moi."
Three versions of the music video exists: black and white version for the Canadian market (1990), color performance version for the United States promotion (November 1990) directed by David Phillips and black and white version mixed with performance version made for the Unison home video (1991).
"Where Does My Heart Beat Now" was the most successful single from the Unison album and became Dion's first English-language hit.
The song reached number 4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay, number 9 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales) and did even better on Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks peaking at number 2. "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" reached also top 10 in Norway and Canada, peaking at numbers 4 and 6 respectively. According to Nielsen SoundScan it sold 236,000 copies in the U.S.
When it was released in the United Kingdom in March 1991, the song peaked at number 81. The single was re-released in March 1993, reaching number 72.
Dion performed this song for the last time during her 1996-97 Falling into You Tour.
